WWOCAR Committees
The Affiliate Committee provides an opportunity for the WWOCAR's Affiliate members to focus on enhancing the relationship between themselves and the REALTOR® members. This committee will assist in defining Association value for Affiliates, developing Affiliate leadership, and promoting the Affiliate companies and individuals. The Affiliate Committee selects the Affiliate-of-the-Year Award, assists in recruiting new Affiliates, produces a quarterly article or program in the Newsline, develops Affiliate classes, and other functions.
The Bylaws Committee continually reviews both the Bylaws and policy manual to recommend changes that are consistent with the National Association of REALTORS® and the needs of the WWOCAR membership.
The Financial Planning Committee is responsible for reviewing the budget and financial policies of the Association. The Committee recommends policies for the investment of funds and monitors monthly statements. The Financial Planning Committee reviews requests for non-budget items, which are submitted by other Committees, for approval or disapproval.
Encouraging member awareness and participation in legislative and political activities is one of the foremost goals of the Government Affairs Committee. Some of the activities include conducting candidate interviews at local and state levels, making recommendations for support and endorsement, raising funds and increasing awareness about the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), and monitoring legislative issues which have a potential affect on the real estate business and private property rights. For the 2002 year, this committee will participate in MAR Legislative Day, coordinate a series of legislative breakfasts, and select the recipient of the "REALTOR® Active in Politics Award."
The Grievance Committee gives initial consideration to both allegations of unethical conduct and requests for arbitration, then forwards for hearing before a Hearing Panel of the Professional Standards Committee all complaints that have a basis of unethical conduct. This committee ensures that all complaints are processed in an expedient manner. There is special training provided for all Grievance Committee members.
The Member Services Committee's principal goal is enhancing the REALTOR® image in the community. This is accomplished by supporting the public awareness campaign through local media, and conducting a variety of events and activities through Task Forces, such as, Community Project, Media Luncheons, Red Cross Blood Drive, Golf Outing, Bowling for Charity, Night at the Races, Annual Social Event, and more. By joining this committee, you can select one or more events to participate in.
The nominating committee consists of 10 REALTOR® members, the President, President Elect (a non-voting member) and four members who are elected for a two year term each year at the Annual General Membership Meeting, along with four remaining members. The role of the committee is to seek out potential candidates to serve in a leadership capacity, conduct candidate interviews and make recommendation to the Board of Directors for final approval.
The Professional Standards Committee conducts Ethics Hearings and Arbitration Hearings on ethics complaints and requests for arbitration referred by the Grievance Committee. This committee ensures all cases are current and develops consistency in disciplinary action. YOU MUST SERVE THREE (3) YEARS ON GRIEVANCE BEFORE BEING CONSIDERED FOR PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS DUTY. There is special training provided for Professional Standards Committee members. Appointments to this Committee are carefully evaluated as to real estate experience, Association service, and judicial temperament and competence.
The Risk Reduction Committee educates the Association’s membership about risk related items to reduce the risk of liability to those in the real estate profession. This is accomplished by ongoing communication to membership and offering both a Risk Reduction and Legal Update Seminar each year to communicate the new laws that have been enacted. Some of the responsibilities of the Risk Reduction Committee include, assessing and promoting WWOCAR's standardized forms and updating the Commonly Used Clause Book.
The REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) is the only grassroots and issues mobilizing force that exists to protect and promote the tradition of home ownership and real estate investment. The WWOCAR RPAC Committee continuously strives to reach the Association’s designated RPAC goal, and to increase member RPAC participation. The committee develops recognition programs for major contributing members.
The Special Activities Committee will explore new programs and services to offer as member benefits, while improving the existing benefits, including education. New methods of marketing and promotion of WWOCAR's programs will be analyzed and implemented. This committee is ideal for anyone who has an interest in marketing, promotion and gaining more value from belonging to WWOCAR.
